The Mormon religion is plagued with child molestation and child abuse. As bad as the Catholic Church is concerning child abuse, at least they don't try to justify it with their doctrines. If you consider the simple math, the only way that one Mormon male can marry several . They increase when they are "fed", which happens when a man capitulates to the temptation, and they whither away (slowly), when they are starved. Isaac Watts is best known today as a hymn writer and that is certainly where his true genius lay. However he was a pastor/theologian who engaged deeply with the theological and philosophical issues of his day.1 In particular he wrote on the role of reason and the place of the passions2 in the Christian life and it is the second of these this article focuses on.

In this rereading of Epictetus Discourses, I wanted to concentrate on two things in particular: first, whether his belief in God or the gods (and Epictetus is by far the most overtly religious and theistic of the Greco-Roman moralists) is strictly necessary to his philosophy; and, second, how closely Epictetus stoicism approaches the non-theistic position of philosophical Buddhism/5.

Book IV. describes the relations of love and sin. The following five Books treat of the exercise of benevolence in its generic sense—the sovereign love of God for his own sake.

There are few good books in English on Rousseau’s politics. By far the best treatment is to be found in Mr. Bernard Bosanquet’s Philosophical Theory of the State. Viscount Morley’s Rousseau is a good life, but is not of much use as a criticism of views; Mr.

W. Boyd’s The Educational Theory of Rousseau contains some fairly good chapters on the political views.Niccolo Machiavelli to Zanobi Buondelmonte and Cosimo Rucellai, Greeting.
